Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book in advance for daycare or hygiene services?

Yes, we recommend booking ahead to ensure your dog’s spot, especially for health and hygiene services. This helps us give every pup the care and attention they deserve.

Bookings can be made online or by phone. We’re happy to answer questions about availability.

What makes Little Urban Wolves different?

At Little Urban Wolves we run structured daycare programs. Structured daycare is similar to daycare you’d send a human child to. Dogs have free play time, they also engage in training activities and tasks which engage their olfactory senses and create problem solving opportunities. We find a structured approach helps dogs develop social literacy, general skill development and a higher self awareness. We have also experienced a great response from shy, anxious and over excited dogs, as our programs provide focus and safe energy expression.

Is my dog suitable for daycare?

Not all dogs are social butterflies, some dogs actually prefer to be at home on their own through the day. And this is perfectly fine!

We assess all new dogs to ensure our daycare environment is the perfect fit for your dog, and to ensure daycare is something your dog wants to be a part of.

All new dogs go onto a trial period of 3 visits once they pass assessment to give them time to relax and ensure we didn’t miss anything in their initial visit.

How many dogs do you have each day?

Little Urban Wolves accommodates up to 35 dogs a day. We work to a ratio of 1 team member to 10 dogs. Our focus is on providing the quality care for all dogs, for this reason we keep low ratios between staff and dogs.

Will my dog only play with little dogs?

We get it, our smallest staff dog is 3Kg, thankfully, dogs don’t care about the size, it’s all about the energy. Our team work with all dogs to ensure that energy is managed and all dogs are able to mingle together through the day. We have a general weight limit of 15kg. Our maximum weight is 25kg, all dogs over 15Kg are assessed to ensure they are small dog safe and self aware.

What is required of my dog to attend daycare?

All dogs that attend Little Urban Wolves must be:

Be up to date with flea, tick and worming treatments

Weigh under 15kg (Dogs up to 25kg by application).

Be social with other dogs and people

Have proof of C5 vaccination

Be desexed, if older than 12 months (vet note required).

Can I visit the Centre before enrolling my dog?

Absolutely! We welcome visits so you can see our nurturing environment and meet our caring staff before making a decision.

Call us to schedule a visit time!

When is daycare available?

Daycare is closed weekends and public holidays

Why does my dog need to be assessed?

All new dogs to Little Urban Wolves are assessed to ensure we understand who your dog is and establish what support they may need.

We’re looking at independence, social literacy, energy control, ability to follow direction and over all confidence. Please note that dogs over 15Kg also need to be self aware and able to play small, as most of there friends will under 15Kg.

We will always discuss our findings with you and any focus areas for development. Should a dog attempt to bite other dogs or show aggression, they will be excluded from the Centre.

What vaccinations are required for my dog to attend?

For the safety of all dogs, we required up-to-date C5 vaccinations. We will add this to your file before your first visit.

Not sure what vaccinations your dog has received? Reach out and we’ll happily guide you through requirements.

Can I stay with my dog during assessment?

We understand that putting your pup in daycare is a new experience and one you may want to witness. Due to work health and safety, parents are not able to enter our daycare area. Pup’s also act differently with parents around, which can make assessment difficult to carry out. Trust that our team are highly experienced in all facets of dog behaviour, health and welfare. We have a combine experience of 35 years.

When is assessment available?

New assessments are carried out Tuesday to Friday.

We limit assessments to two a day and ask that all dogs arrive between 8-9am to allow assessment to be carried out through our daily structure to allow us the best opportunity to observe and assess your dog.

Do you have breed restrictions?

As we assess all dogs and work to support positive behaviour, we don’t have breeds we generally don’t allow. Some breeds and energy types simply aren’t suited to our facility, due to the size and nature of our structured environment. We always recommend contacting our team to discuss your dog and your needs. We find most people are very aware of who their dog is, we’re here to help, not judge.

How do I pay?

We accept EFTPOS, American Express, AfterPay and cash. Please be aware card options do attract a minimal transaction fee.

My dog has separation anxiety, can they come to daycare?

Yes. we specialise in anxious behaviours. Our structured approach to daycare is highly beneficial for dogs with various anxieties. Dogs are actively engaged and supported throughout the day, helping minimise anxious behaviours while building confidence and resilience in anxious dogs. We will discuss any special approaches we will implement to support your dog at assessment. We’ve had many clients comment on a decrease in anxious behaviours, creating a calmer more happy dog.

Can I use other daycare services while my dog attends Little Urban Wolves?

While you are welcome to use the services of other daycares, we do ask that you ensure they are meeting the code of practice as set out in the NSW Animal Welfare Code of Practice No.5. We do ask that you let us know if your dog is attending other daycare services, this is to help us minimise illness entering our facility and ensure the safety of all dogs that visit. We pride ourselves on maintaining a industry leading facility, adhereing to all guidelines set in the Code of Practice.
